Rice: 'N Korea escalating crisis'...oops...

"US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has accused North Korea of wanting to escalate international tensions over its nuclear weapons programme."

'Oops'...escalate tension?...What about:

"N. Korean Leader Regrets Test..."

"North Korean leader Kim Jong Il expressed regret about his country's nuclear test to a Chinese delegation and said Pyongyang would return to international nuclear talks if Washington backs off a campaign to financially isolate the country, a South Korean newspaper reported Friday."

I don't know about you but that doesn't look like an 'escalation of tension' to me!...Read on...

The secretary of state was in Beijing on Friday, but she said the Chinese made no mention of Mr Kim agreeing to halt nuclear tests, despite giving her a "thorough" briefing on Mr Tang's visit to Pyongyang.

So Ms Rice was in China talking to the big guys there about Korea and other things. Check out this:

"I don't know whether or not Kim Jong-il said any such thing," Ms Rice told journalists accompanying her on a flight from Beijing to Moscow."

"Tang did not tell me that Kim Jong-il either apologised for the test or said that he would not ever test again," Ms Rice added.

Now what I want to know is, did Ms Rice specifically ask the Chinaman whether or not the President of Korea actually said what was reported he said; that he was sorry about the test and he would like to talk to us (and others) about the problem? She didn't say she'd asked about it and, if she didn't ask, why not?..hummm....Kinda makes you wonder, don't it? Do we want a peaceful resolution or what?

You know, we had a war with North Korea over fifty years ago and both the US and South Korea couldn't beat the people up north. I wonder if there might be some sour grapes involved here?

Here's one for you to mull over:
South Korea and the U S of A had a war we couldn't win with North Korea back in the 50s and since then things have been , maybe not 'pretty good', but at least, not too bad between all of us. There've been some cuss words back and forth every now and then but not much more. They wanted to stay commie and they did and the south didn't want to and they didn't! It's as simple as that.

Now, what I want to know is, why is it that this country refuses to treat North Korea like a real country now? Why does our president refuse to talk to the president of that country? I mean, the fight has been over for fifty odd years and the US still can't accept North Korea being a real nation, just like this one and South Korea.

We talk to Russia and we talk to Communist China and we talk to Japan and Germany, all nations with whom we have less than favorable histories. Maybe it's time to re-think things. Maybe it's time we stopped trying to 'build' nations; Iraq, for example. We don't even know whether it's the Sunnis or the Shiites we support there. What we should realize is, as long as that nation is Muslim, we're just spinning our wheels and losing American lives there for nothing.

Now, someone tell me why we still hate North Korea and refuse to treat that country like the rest of the world.

Later...
