Texan to Fund Cricket...Californian to Fund Jacks...

Here is a man who really likes cricket! Well enough to invest millions in the game!

Billionaire Allen Stanford announced his plans on Monday, which include an annual Twenty20 competition to involve 17 Caribbean countries. The countries due to take part are Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Maarten, British Virgin Islands, St Vincent, Trinidad & Tobago.

"My vision for the Stanford Twenty20 tournament is that it will be the catalyst for a resurgence of love for the game," he said.

Each will receive $100,000 (£57,000) when they confirm their involvement and a further $10,000 per month to help players and coaches prepare.

Not to be outdone, a California Social Security recipient has decided to fund a 'Jacks" tournament.

California Social Security recipient JC CA Jimbo announced hisplans on Tuesday, which include a millenial four4 competition to involve four4 European countries. The countries due to take part in this historical tournament are; Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Ireland.(All athletes are blond with blue eyes except the Irish who was too drunk to tell us)

"My vision for the Modesto Junion College Four4 tournament is that it will be a bigger catalyst for a resurgence of love for that fine old American sport!"

As you can see, Mr. Jimbo will spare no time and expense to promote this wonderfully competitive sport. His dream is that all little girls (and Bay Area boys, too, I guess)will eventually become involved in this wholesome activity.

"Each athlete will receive a dollar ninety per game for the extent of the tournament. There will be four4 games with one1 person eliminated each game until there is only one1 left. She/he will then (on the honor method) play with her/himself until she/he has either defeated her/himself or run out of breath. If this works out, maybe next time there will be mixed doubles for the last round. That might be a toot."

The ultimate winner will receive two2 dollars and a Paper Machete Trophy donated by the Red Bluff First1-Graders.

As you can see, Mr. Jimbo, like Mr. Stanford has (or will) expend all his energy and is willing to go to any expense to see the re-insurgence of their chosen athletic competitions.

It should be an exciting year of activity.(or, 'day', for the latter)

The Jacks Tournament will be held as soon as it can be arranged at either the Lake Redding Park in Redding or the sidewalk in front of the Red Bluff Courthouse. Parking will be optional. Everyone is welcome. (for a small twenty20 dollar donation)

Thank God for wonderful people like Mr. Stanford and Mr. Jimbo. Without them the sports of Cricket and Jacks might be out of sight, out of mind, forever.

The dates of the tournaments will be announced as soon as we can find a factory that will be willing to manufacture fifty50 jacks, free of charge and deliver them to us.

Please mark this on your calender. It may never happen again!

Later...

This will interfere with the Sanderson National Hopscotch competition scheduled for the same locations. Please confer with Mr. Sanderson so we can be sure to schedule alternative days.
