A Tremendous National Security Issue...Do We Want Arabs Running Our Shipping Ports?...

For those of you who have refrained from contacting your governmental representatives about any issues in the past, this is the time to rethink your priorities.

Bush and his people are going to allow Arabs to take over six of our busiest shipping ports unless someone stops them. You can read about it in the title link above or here.

I recommend e-mailing or calling your Senators and Representatives with any objection you may have to this foolish action being taken by Bush.

I am posting my own e-mail text that I sent to Senators' Feinstein and Boxer and my Rep., Wally Herger. You can copy and paste it if you wish and amend it however you like.

Please don't underestimate the importance of keeping the Arabs from controling our sea ports! I truly believe George Bush and his people have lost it entirely.

He threatened to veto any bill stopping the transfer of the port authority. If he does, that will be the first time he has vetoed anything since he's been in office! What should that tell you?

Here is a copy of my e-mail message:

Mr. Herger, I strongly oppose the transfer of the control of many of our shipping ports from a company of our British allies to the United Arab Emirates. I understand the company, Dubai Ports World, which wants to take control of these ports is sponsored by the UAE. I also am aware the UAE has been a conduit for financial assistance to the terrorists who killed innocent people on 9-11 of 2001.

Here is a quote by Brit Hume, a respected news analyst:

"It doesn't sound good to let some Arab shieks to be in charge of our ports - that's what it comes down to." I agree completely!

Here is another quote of the highly respected Republican Senator, Lindsey Graham:

"It's unbelievably tone deaf politically at this point in our history, four years after 9/11, to entertain the idea of turning port security over to a company based in the U.A.E., who avows to destroy Israel."

I think this quote speaks for itself and I agree!

I am truly sorry President Bush has been such a disappointment to Conservative Republicans like myself and I'm glad he cannot again run for the office of President.

I sincerely hope you will consider taking action to stop this transfer of power from a friendly nation to a potentially harmful nation. I, myself, am opposed to any foreign nation being in charge of or owning any property in the US, particularly when our national security may be compromised.
Respectfully, your constituents, James C and Donna L. XXXXXXXXX

I hope you think this is serious enough for you to do something about. Without me and people like you who truly care about our freedom and security, we can easily fall prey to whoever decides to take us over. Please, do something about it!

Later...

If my information is correct, we've had the British running those ports for years. Yes, they are our long time allies. So why are they selling or leasing the ports to the Arabs?

I don't know. I think Bush wants to impress the Muslims he is their friend and maybe they'll invite us to run their oil industry. Or, maybe he's just stupid. Pick one!

Thanks for checking my blog. Since the posting on the ports deal; I have had a nights sleep, and done much thinking, reading, and investigating. My next post should reflect a change in my mindset. About the best comparison to my position is that of Uncle Jimbo over at Blackfive.com. The Dubaians won't have any, repeat any control over the ports. The will only "manage" the logistical operation. Just as the Chinese now do at the Port of Long Beach on the left coast. (China is a much bigger threat than Dubai.) In fact, except for Tony Blair, the Brits are a wimpy bunch, who need him to lead them. Our president gets out of bed in the morning to serve America, and Americans. I've not approved of his not using his VETO on other matters, and now; having gotten a crash course in port management, will accept his use of it here. Yes, a reversal of thinking; but the first thoughts from me were, admittedly, more of passion than logic, (the very thing I criticize the tree huggers and Manatee Huggers over), now I will trust that GWB has better advisors than I. Sorry if this disappoints anyone, and at a later date I may be seen eating crow, but for now I am with Geordy on this one. There is no American company that can do this job, none.
And for the ill-informed, (as I was), and the mis-informed, (as I never am), we didn't do this deal, we didn't squeeze the brits out. Peninsular and Oriental is being bought out. That is none of Americas business, except that some of their interests are here in the USA.
I'll be gathering more info on the scope of their involvement and doing another post soon. Meanwhile, let's see what this really involves. And people- look for the positive, the Libs will dig up enough false and real negatives.
Thanks for the space to vent.
